3 Things Movers Can Do For You (Besides Moving)

With a warm, sunny weekend ahead of us, we are flying right into the heart of do-it-yourself season. But do-it-yourself doesn’t have to mean yourself. You just need to know who can help! And for these spring cleanup/renovation projects, hiring movers can make your life a lot easier.

1. Junk/old furniture removal

If you’re like most people, you’ve probably set a few things into your basement or garage, awaiting the time that they will once again be useful. And if you’re like most people, that time may never come. This grows truer the longer you live in a house; junk and old furniture will pile up. Taking it to a dump, or second-hand store, can be quite a task, if you have to do it on your own. However, many moving companies (ourselves included!) are more than happy to come and help you clear out your belongings. You can arrange for a donation, or just trash it altogether. The important thing is that you don’t have to do it yourself!

2. Clearing rooms for painting, flooring, or other renovations

A lot of people choose this time of year to tackle some home projects. If you plan on painting a room, refinishing the floors or carpeting, installing new windows, or anything else that might require you to clear out a room (or many rooms of furniture) – you can get help with all the heavy lifting. If you’ve got the room to store items at your own house, you can still hire movers to take everything and clear it out. You’ll have the floor open to do whatever it is you need to do.

3. Furniture delivery and assembly

If you plan on doing any furniture shopping, you may want to consider hiring movers to help you get things from point A to B. Even Craigslist (or other hand-me-down, person-to-person) pick-ups can be arranged by your local moving company. And if you do get some new furniture, there’s a good chance it’ll come in a box, and assembly could take hours of frustration. We suggest you save that aggravation, hire a moving company, and get outside and actually enjoy the beautiful spring weather!

De-cluttering your home for a more successful sale and removal

De-cluttering your home for a more successful sale and removalWhen it comes to impressing prospective buyers for your home, it has become even more essential that your property stand out from what can be an extremely
saturated market. With this in mind, many people are using a technique called ‘house staging’ which involves making the house look very much on trend and
spacious, even if this is not exactly how the seller may have been living in the property. Of course you can go rather far down the line with this one; you
don’t have to buy new carpets or wallpaper, just tidy the place up and de-clutter the house so that it feels as spacious as possible. This will likely
strike a little fear in to your mind, as making the place feel spacious will often involve moving furniture around and getting things out of the house,
which may well require a self storage unit, as well as the hassle of getting a man and van involved, which is sometimes more stress than it is worth. There
are various answers to these issues, depending on how you want to go ahead with your particular move.

De-cluttering the house is pretty essential for any move, so why not do it before the property even goes on the market? Rounding up everything and chucking
stuff away can be quite difficult, as people become very attached to stuff that really is not relevant in their lives any more. You need to be tough with
yourself, and think of everything that you will really need in the new place; it’s not like moving house is going to mean that you suddenly use your
mountain bike a lot more, so think about selling stuff that you really don’t use! You can obviously auction things online if you feel that they are worth some cash, and then of course there is always the
jumble sale for smaller things. Look in to car boot sales as well as having a yard sale; some car boots are extremely popular, and will be a lot better for
getting rid of your stuff than others. For that which you can’t sell, be sure to give it to a charity shop or recycle it where you can.

Once you have rid yourself of as much that you can throw away, look in to how you are going to set up your house to make it look as attractive as possible
to potential buyers. You will find that making the place feel calm, spacious yet inviting is the best way to do this. No one is expecting to walk in to a
set from ‘world or interiors’ but you can do a lot with rearranging furniture and hiding clutter to
ensure that the rooms feel as large as they should do, whilst also being nice to live in. This process will likely involve getting rid of certain items,
whether furniture, or boxes full of things that need to be removed. You will want to avoid lugging it all to the self storage place, so why not look at
getting a mobile storage unit involved? These units are delivered to your home, and you can keep them on the drive. They are completely lockable and will
give you a great place to keep things whilst you need them out of the house. Be sure that the MSU does not get in the way of the buyer however,as some may
be immediately put off by the large box on the driveway!

Getting Rid Of Unnecessary Stuff For An Easier Move

5575089139_ffec7b5846Look around you – is that your room filled with all that useless tiny objects which as you might suppose have just appeared from nowhere? Wrong assumption…it was you who had bought them because you thought they would perfectly combine with the style of the room. Fortunately  you are not the only one who had been captured in this vicious circle of buying unneeded stuff – it is very common  habit, just calm down – it will continue throughout your whole life.

Whether you accept this as a joke or not here is a list with some proposals of what you can do with the unnecessary things  in your home, which probably are a big problem when you are moving out.

Donation. If you are a fan of donating your things and you are familiar with such places that is one of the best options you have. Of course you should carefully pick up such things which are suitable for the  certain group of people. For example do not send your old magazines and broken souvenirs – pick out the things that may be of a great need to those people – if you have clothes and books that stay in wardrobes just to fill the space – do not give them a last chance . In this way you could establish a new arrangement in your room and help someone who is in need.

Friends.  The good old saying”A friend in need is a friend indeed”works ideally here. If you pick a room in your house and look it with fresh eyes you will probably make the conclusion that there are more than 5 things that could bring happiness to your friends. May be it’s the right time to say goodbye to them and make your room look cleaner and tidy. Your friends will be content to have an old unique souvenir from Egypt or the perfect professional guitar that had been waiting for you to tune it. Well..accept your fortune  you are not the second Jimi Hendrix, however you can fix things by making a present to your best friend. Problem solved.

Recycling  This is an ultimate decision, but if you really need to clean and reorganize your home don’t have second thoughts about it. All that thrash, stuck in between the angles of the room should be repacked and recycled as soon as possible. In this way you may feel as an contributor to the saving of our planet – the recycling is vital for preserving the environment.

Schools and daycare centers This is another good option mainly if you want to donate some books , even some old magazines. There are many schools in which the libraries suffer  from the lack of books and magazines so if the books stay covered with dust on the shelves just give them away and leave the space for new book which will perfectly suit your taste.

Selling This is an option which could be really beneficial for you if you need an extra money . But pay attention, because if you sell your unneeded stuff you must take a preliminary look of the things and  see if they are in good condition or not. That goes perfectly if you have decided to move to a smaller apartment and there is not enough space for some of the furniture.

There are many ways in which you could get rid of the unneeded stuff but before that you have to realize and accept the fact that you possess things that are in your home for no reason and the sooner  you put up with this fact, the better you will feel later. Whether it is an old toy with a sentimental value or an expensive costume bought with the wrong size – get over it – sell it, donate it and feel the cosiness of your neat and clean home.
