How To Deal With A Hot Moving Day

It feels good to say that the warm weather is officially here in Boston. The sun is shining and the temperature is climbing. While this beautiful weather can be great for a day at the beach or a picnic, it’s pretty awful for moving day.

Ventilate! Breathe!

Doing strenuous labor with the sun shining can be tough. To make things worse, the back of a moving truck is a hot metal box, and it heats up like a greenhouse when the sun is shining on it. If you have a side door on your moving truck, keep it open, even if you’re not using it. It will help circulate fresh, cooler air.

Stay Hydrated

Make sure to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Dehydration can make you tired and weak, and it is really not safe to work under those circumstances. Avoid drinks that don’t actually hydrate you, like soda or coffee. If you do drink soda or coffee while moving, be sure to have some water as well.

Keep It Cool

The heat itself can be tiring, especially with direct sun or humidity. We recommend keeping fans running in places where you’ll be able to cool down for a moment. If you have an air conditioner, you can set it up in a room to have a cool-down zone. When the heat starts to get overpowering, drink some water and cool down in the cool-down zone.
